(Time to get yourself a Strategy)

It’s supposed to be easy. Well, it sounds like it should be.  You just start putting a few posts out on Instagram, a couple on Facebook each week and maybe three or four tweets each day.  How difficult is that?!?!  So simple you could give responsibility to your new apprentice.  A few weeks and there’ll be traffic speeding along to your website.

Or maybe not!

Have you stopped to consider which social media networks are best for your business?  Do you know which are most effective in connecting with your target audience? No?  Then CARRY ON ASSUMING!

What are you able to manage with your resource and budget?  Or do you CARRY ON PRESUMING you can do the lot?  Don’t try to manage too many social media platforms (just because you’re told to or believe you should be) if you’re only going to end up managing them all badly, because you’re too stretched.  It’s far better to manage just one platform well than use many very poorly.

How often do you need to post and how can you do it efficiently? You don’t know, but you’re going to CARRY ON SPECULATING!

Social media can be one of the most effective ways of marketing your business, so shouldn’t you be putting a little effort into planning your approach, using analytics, monitoring performance and measuring results.  Or alternatively you could, well… CARRY ON GUESSING!

Enough now! Stop sticking your finger in the air. You need to know your COMPETITION, set clear OBJECTIVES, define your target AUDIENCE, MEASURE performance and REVIEW, REVIEW, REVIEW.
