The UK has left the building!

#Brexit now becomes #Brexited! The United Kingdom has voted to leave.  It’s now inevitable that we are due to feel some kind of economic turmoil (never mind political chaos), even if that is only a short-term pain, after the democratic decision to divorce ourselves from our European partners.  With both the ‘Exit’ and ‘Remain’ campaigns failing to give us anything concrete to help paint a picture of our futures, we are still left in a position of uncertainty.  The pound has fallen sharply, with the financial markets feeling pretty sombre and the Bank of England’s Mark Carney already announcing that £250bn of additional funding is ready to support the functioning of markets.  In some people’s minds there will be fear of entering yet another period of recession.

How does this now affect your business?

One would assume that for all businesses, big or small, it’s inevitable the pinch will be felt in our pockets.  The likelihood is such that we will all be reviewing our budgets and business plans and possibly making significant changes to our strategies.

The potential turmoil will probably mean tighter purse-strings and the need to seek new avenues in generating business leads.  So is it all ‘doom and gloom’ or can we be just a little more innovative?

Well of course we can.  We have to be.

For instance, those businesses which still take a more old-fashioned approach to their marketing, it is now the time to move in to the 21st Century and grab the huge opportunities which Social Media and Social Selling have to offer.  The use of relatively low cost, customer-engaging media can be the answer to easing any financial constraints but still finding new business. 

Was it not Sir Richard Branson who said “Social Media is not only more cost-efficient than advertising, but it also offers great opportunities for innovative engagement with your customers.”?

Ask yourself, “If I’m not currently using Social Media Marketing for my business, can I now afford not to?”

Change is upon us.  It could be time for you to change too.
