Okay, I’m going to get this out of the way right now… “Engagement is the most important element of your social media!!!! You should be using social media to chat, discuss and network.”

Now I’ve said that, there’s a “however” coming…

I’m not saying you should stop engaging, I’m actually saying the opposite. You should be doing much more.  And do more by... scheduling!

Absolute nonsense, I hear some of you saying.  But is it?

Well, let’s first have a look at some of the reasons why scheduling can be of benefit.

There is no denying that scheduling can help you save time.  This is without doubt the most obvious advantage but the biggest too.  Putting aside a small period of time on a Monday morning can save you the pain of ‘bitting n bobbing’ in and out of posting to multiple networks umpteen times daily, or completely forgetting to post anything because you’re too tied up with your day-to-day.

Scheduling does give you an element of consistency. That consistency can be ensuring you’re posting regularly and not having days of forgetfulness, but also consistency in the content you’re sharing.

The problem in posting on most social media networks can be ‘blink, and it’s gone’ and your post has dropped way down your audience feed.  You may be able to reach an audience, but are your posts creating impressions? In reality only a small percentage of followers or connections will view them.  Scheduling, however, whether the messages are formed slightly different means you can post at different times increasing the potential for a much bigger audience.

If your business doesn’t have a marketing department, maybe you’re on your Jack Jones within your business, meaning you have to be a Jack-of-all-Trades, probably like many small businesses or start-ups you’re putting in the hours well into the evening.  By the time you get to the weekend you’re ready for a rest.  But does your target audience limit engagement to just working hours? Absolutely not.  Scheduling outside of those working hours can mean you don’t miss out on out-of-hours engagement potential.

Can you increase engagement by scheduling?

Free up time so you can engage more. Increase your audience so you can engage more. Post out of hours giving you the potential to engage more.
